Paula Galvin

How do you feel about being chosen as a hero of Clondalkin?

“Embarrassed yet honoured at the same time!”

Why do you think you were picked as hero of Clondalkin?

Paula feels she was chosen for “raising awareness of Fairtrade and showing that children can be social activists.”

A bit about Paula.

She has been teaching for “33 years!” mainly in primary schools. In the 80’s Paula taught in Zimbabwe in an all-boys high school, and this is where she became “globally aware of poverty and world problems”. She loves children and teaching them. She currently works as a primary school teacher in a local school.

What work have you done in the local community?

Paula has contributed hugely to the “Fairtrade status of Clondalkin”. She helps local independent TD, Francis Timmion. And she has a huge interest in mental health.

What is your motto in life?

“Be the change you want to see in the world.”

Who is your Clondalkin hero?

“Tommy Keogh, Franky Ropuck & Jim Gavin.”
