How do you feel about being chosen as a hero of Clondalkin?
‘I am flattered to be picked as a hero of Clondalkin, It is great that Mayfield Park get recognition’
Why do you think you picked as a hero?
‘I think I was picked as a hero of Clondalkin from the work I did with Mayfield Park’
Tell me a bit about yourself-
‘I started working in Mayfield Park in 1992 with the people their. Before that I used to be a Home Economics teacher in Coláiste Bríde. In 1996-1997, we finished the park-well most of it! But I have to say, Mick Fagan and Cathy Carol got more people involved and gave a push to get things going’.
What work have you done in the local community?
‘I still run the homework club. Two previous people; Nicola Ward and Tomas McDonald went on to further education which was brilliant! Melissa Brady got her degree too!’
Who is your Clondalkin hero?
‘Everyone in Clondalkin is a hero especially the people in Mayfield Park. They have roughed it. I would canonise them in the morning. They would often share what they haven’t got!’’
